Bimmerfest 2014

Around March this year I attended the Bimmer Fest in the heart of Johannesburg's custom car culture ,Lenasia south. The locals put their best bavarian wheels forward for the various segments of the Sunday afternoon event. Some freestyle football skills ,a sound-off competition,Show and Shine and some wet drift sessions . E46  and E92 M3s were out in full force and a trip down memory lane with a few pristine oldies completed the family orientated fellowship among octane-heads. With that ,here's a highlight reel from the Bimmerfest 2014 hosted by Driven SA.

Pra Kulture Classics set out to elevate the pace when it comes to the SUV customizing market in ZA ,with their 555 horsepower X6 M sitting on 24 inch Giovanna peggs and a carbon fiber front spoiler and rear diffuser and custom exhaust.
It's not every weekend that you sport a E30 station wagon ,especially one that came in left hand drive

Inject that petrol spirit in them while they're young.

Custom paint ,exhaust custom roof spoiler ,custom side skirts custom wheels ,custom interior custom hood custom everything.

Lady in red

Go home VW you're drunk.

While commonly ,you'd expect secondary rubber smoking at the site of an E30 but some owners prefer to keep their oldies just like their homes ,clean.

Rims and wraps ,the hard life of an M3.

Shadow assassin

A jaw dropper that speaks volumes awesomeness! yet it's wealthy and humble owner requested not to have what could possibly be the sickest muscle car on the African continent published.whether the owner will change his mind about publicizing his ride ,remains a mystery. until then ,here's a sneak peak of a piece of automotive art.

Extreme GTI

If by now you’re already tired of minimally notable improvements on the GTI’s aesthetics and power plant, then VW’s Design Vision GTI will bring you that long awaited sigh of relief. Gorging out an insane 370 Kw at 6500 RPM, 560 Nm of torque complements of a couple of turbos and shooting to the 100 kph mark in 3.9 seconds.

Exterior wise, it’s a reminder of the mark 7, but it seems a samurai warrior was entrusted to slice up aerodynamic openings accompanied by carbon fiber composites, a first for any golf , to keep her grounded when the 3 litre V6 engine begins to croon in augmented notes through the exhaust pipes.

As for the cockpit, if you've seen Audi’s RS range or better yet the R8 V10, then the excessive use of suede with hints of rot and again, carbon fiber shouldn't be much of a surprise, take it as big brother taking style hints from the little brother.

Keep an open mind before you commence on putting your budget on a diet to make space for an installment that is equal to a mortgage payment in order to be one of the first to trade up. The final design and production from the Wolfsburg auto giant has yet to be finalized that’s or confirmed for that matter. Considering that it’s a 215 kilowatt spring from the standard 162 Mark VII engine, don’t expect anything past 300 kw in reality. We’ll have to wait and observe if this is just a flagship model for new performance tech earth’s largest auto group is promising for future models or just another appetizer.

CLASSIC CAR SHOW 2013

A wise man once said “you have to look back at the trail of your predecessors in order to visualize the path for the future”. As cliché as the quote may be, this is the philosophy of  21st century car designers that assists them in sustaining the values and visions of auto brands that have become synonymous with today’s consumer market.Thousands of classic gear heads from around SA made their way to the Nasrec expo center for   exhibiting and for many admiring the forefathers of modern automobiles as we have come to know them.
Though the show was dedicated to the old school movement, the supercar ,Chopper and new body muscle fraternities weren’t going to let old geysers scoop all the glory. Luminas, R8s, GTR35s and drag cars drew in the crowds as much as the main attractions. With that said here’s a recap.
Considering that ford Cortinas in the streets of SA are usually parked on bricks, used as scrap metal collectors and chicken houses, this one deserves a Z.A.L mark of approval.

Tell us again how spotless your engine bay is.
New school muscle cars are steadily popping up in the streets of ZA and this 2008 SRT8 charger and Ford mustang are genuine testimonies.

The immaculate paint job, re-chromed bumper and fresh taillights on this “61 bubble top impala were enough to overshadow any modern rival within its territory.

A proper send off ride for a true old school head.
Wooden flooring use #2 lay it on your pick up truck’s bed.

We’ll just salivate over this T-bucket while the sun intensifies its banana paint job.

Imagine pulling up in this baby at an Eco-geeks rally.

If Bugsy Siegel was alive, he’d probably give her a nod.

A few ‘stangs here and there

And the rest of the Line up
